It’s back!
Out to Play: booklet and website
Out to Play Scotland is officially the most popular Clyde Action resource ever produced!
As a mum to two young girls (Millie 2 and Daisy 7 months), I am so excited about this little book. As a young girl myself, I spent most of my childhood outdoors exploring woodland and along the seafront at my granny’s house. Unfortunately, nowadays, most children prefer to stay indoors with Playstations and TV. One look at this book will prove to you there is far more fun to be had outside!
Even on the coldest days, there are things to find and do: just get wrapped up and get out there! From pond dipping to bulb planting, bark rubbing to orienteering: you will have a wonderful time and learn lots about the world around you, without even realising it!
Supported by Scottish Natural Heritage, this biodiversity-themed pack offers children between the ages of 2 and 12 years, and their play workers, the chance to get out there and explore the local, natural environment.
Over 4,000 copies were distributed last year and there’s only limited numbers available — so be quick!
From pond-dipping to butterfly painting, the activities have been tried and tested to ensure children learn about nature, but in a fun way.
The ‘Get Out There’ section at the end of Out to Play Scotland lists some ‘green gems’, the lesser known parks and green spaces where you can sample all the activities on offer.
This free activity book was originally devised by CSV Environment in Bristol, so a big thank you to the team there for allowing us to bring you this resource

Give your time to help
end child poverty
Dare to Care: Make time to help end child poverty is a campaign led by CSV and the Campaign to End Child Poverty to encourage 35,000 people to volunteer their time to help children, young people and families living with the effects of poverty in this country.
Queens Cross Housing Association are just one of the groups to benefit from the Dare to Acre campaign. We asked Angela Blalek, Willie Fleeting, Claire Burns and Arun Anand to produce a podcast about the projects they’re involved in and what they get out of the work they do. Here's what they had to say:
